First off I want to Thank
Madame Samm for creating
this hop for us
& to
Linda for being our amazing talented host!!
I thought a lot about what I wanted to put as my inspiring word..
I can think of quite a few but they all circle back
to one word...
LIFE
I mean where would we be with out it?
I've got a little life within me,
I've a husband & family who love me,
a job I love,
a passion I wish I could make into a job..
It's life that gets away from us..
It's 'life' when you get a phone call from your husband
while your at work telling you his car died
at the side of the road & he needs a ride..
It's life when you realize it's nearly 7 pm at night
& you haven't finished your blog project..
I love life.
Such is life?
Life has gotten away from me when I realized that I haven't shipped out
the giveaway from the last blog hop..
On to this one..
I included the fabric I used in the block above, 2 pieces of coordinating fabrics
& some quilting pins I got at my local quilting stop..
What you need to do:
Tell me about your life..
Has life gotten away from you like it has me?
I'll put your name in an extra time if your a follower :)

It is a good word. And sounds very familiar to me, lol! (This Mr.Seuss seems a very special character. We don't now him here in Switzerland. But I think I will do a little resurce about him.) Thanks for sharing your word with us.
ReplyDeleteI think life slips away from in tiny little pieces. And we all would like to have a couple pieces back! Love your project!
ReplyDeleteI love the fonts.
ReplyDeleteI think you don't know nothing about your life until it happens.
I would have dreamed something different, but who am I to know where to go and why?
Greetings,
Tina
What a great word and love the Dr Seuss frase, just pinched it to my Facebook! I love life, my life, and what I don't love about it I overcome or try to change... I love the people in my life, and the ones I don't I let go....
ReplyDeleteBy the way I am a follower..
ReplyDeleteLife is a wonder word ! Loves Dr. Suess he says it all. Thank you for sharing and the great giveaway, jbechosend at sbcglobal dot net I am a follower
ReplyDeleteLife is a wonderful and sometimes a dreadful and scaring word. But life happens and for me it has been wonderful most of the time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing
Ah, life - when you are young you want it to speed up, then you hit a point you want it to slow down, and then the elder years you ride it out like 'in a surry with the finge on top'.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your life with us.
ReplyDeleteMy life... is blessed.
My Blog explains today: http://zellerwear.blogspot.com/
Many Blessings to you.
Lavonna
My life is not exciting, its not fast, or flashy, but for me its just right :) Love your block and wondered what font you used as it just flows so softly. ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Laura Ann, my life always seems to be at full throttle but I do take time to appreciate everything I have, my DH, Our Boys, our dog Treacle and family. Everyone says how fast the years go but I always think that when I look back and see what I have done in that year and accomplished then I realise how full it has been and how busy it was. So it may got fast but we pack a lot into it!! Thanks for sharing and for a great question. Susie x

ReplyDeleteYour block is lovely. Life is what we are given and what we make of it so I try to live my life to the full and to be kind and helpful to others. I have a great life with a loving family, adorable pets and lots of interests. Sometimes I moan about it because it gets chaotic because I've taken on too much or neglected things but that's my fault and I try to correct it.
ReplyDeleteGreat word! My life is busy and things often get out of control....but generally life is great!
ReplyDeleteLife always gets away from me. Daily I realize there is something I meant to do and forgot or started and forgot to finish. I thought it was an age thing, but maybe it's just because life is so busy.
ReplyDeleteLife is precious. Life has its gives and takes. A positive attitude helps. Thanks for the giveaway. I am now a follower.
ReplyDeleteLife has gotten away from me too. My husband and I spent 3 weeks over the holidays at our son's new house helping him with lots of remodeling. Completely forgot about our regular life! Now we're slowing getting back to a routine, but I'm still searching for my sewing mojo which seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle.
ReplyDeleteLife flies by... quickly... I would love to steal back some moments from when my boys were small. Your block is very lovely, awesome font.
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting!
Life does fly by it seems... but I think this comes from getting older... I was telling my hubby who turns 60 this year that just think how long it has taken you to get this far...and think if you lived just half of that again, how long that would be... he said, yeah but these last 30 would fly by like only 10... or so it would seem. Wonder why that is?
ReplyDeleteFun post! And some real words of wisdom. :) blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteLIFE Embracing life and following every rainbow! sowingstitches[at]gmail[dot]com
ReplyDeleteMy life has slowed down and sped up in the last three months with the arrival of my little girl (and third child). I never have enough time and I'm enjoying the precious time I have all at the same time.
ReplyDeleteMy life is full of goals I work on every day.
ReplyDeletethat is LIFE..sums it all, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteLife is a great word! I am pretty busy with three kiddos but I try to enjoy every moment and SMILE! Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteGreat word choice. I love life....and all the joys it brings with it!
ReplyDeleteLife can get a bit hectic at times; like always...lol. But taking it in stride...thanks for sharing
I am a brand new follower. So glad to have found this hop and so many cool new blogs. conn_and_vans_mom(at)yahoo(dot)com
ReplyDeleteLife has been treating me great. I have four beautiful grand children that I am lucky enough to spend time with. One is on his way here now. I have a great new sewing room that I love and am now planning our trip and cruise to Purerto Rico and the Southern Carribean. Life is good.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower.
ReplyDeleteLife... Life used to pass so slowly now it flies by and leaves me behind most of the time. When I was newly married I would count down and cross off the days till my husband who was in the navy retured from sea. Now to think that same amount of time is here and gone before you know it. Life can be funny you end up eating many words and end up doing so many things that are so diffferent than the life you envisoined when you were younger. I never thought to have 2 teenagers. And one of them to be born autistic with many medical problems. And the other to be born so talented with never a medical problem. Life..and that gorgeous young sailor I married I have noticed he is now so much older with wrinkels appearing and hair thinning and turning silver.Life ages us all. My life, filled with all sorts of things, good, bad, pets, home, creativity, love & family.
ReplyDeleteconn_and_vans_mom(at)yahoo(dot)com
Has life gotten away? Well when I saw on your post that it was January 9 already, my head exploded! (Not a pretty site.) It is true that the older one gets, the faster a day passes. What fun colors in your quilt, and I love the lettering.
ReplyDeleteLaura Ann - I'm a new follower!
ReplyDeleteDr. Seuss Rocks!! Thanks for creating a super project for the hop!!! I'm on the last day.. this is fun!

I love the Dr Seuss banner, and your word is very inspirational! :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel as though life gets away a bit from me - but I can always manage to rein it back in - it's just a matter of how long that actually takes that changes with each bump in the road :)
When I was still working, my mantra was " I wish I could get caught up just once!!!" I've been retired 8 years and just last week I said to my hubby, "I just wish I could get caught up!" Good post - thanks - Life is a good word.
ReplyDeleteI'm following you! (but not in a creepy way, lol!)
ReplyDeleteI wush i could say life is good but right now i am at the age where everything is breaking...time for new body parts.
ReplyDeleteOther then that life is grand !! LOL
Great word and who know that Dr Suess had such great insight on life! Love your post!
ReplyDeleteHi!!! Very pretty!!! Yes...life is all things and often slows me down!! But that is life!!! Life also brings lots of joy!!!! Thank You!!!
ReplyDeleteHi!!! I am a follower!!! I love the comment above...I am a follower but not in a creepy way!!!
ReplyDeleteLife is full of challenges and valleys and full of happiness - you just have to get to the happiness. Very wonderful and creative word and story. Tks for sharing. Judy C
ReplyDeleteGood word. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the colors of your quilt! Life has its ups and downs and our lives have been on a rollercoaster for the last 18 months- hubby lost his job after we had moved to a new state where we knew no one, we lost three of our beloved dachsies within six months (all unexpectedly), he found a new job and we had to move out of state again, and we are fostering another dachsie who has decided that he loves living with us especially his new Dad!
ReplyDeleteLife is a great word. Should remind us to take every moment and live it to our fullest no matter what we do.. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLife for me is either whirling about or taking a break, one extreme to another, but that's life ;D
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance
Of course I follow you :)
ReplyDeleteI think life gets away from all of us from time to time. (The hard part is when those times all run together!) Your project is beautiful! Great job!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower, too!
ReplyDeleteLife is a great word choice. My life is mostly good for me: good health, good career, good family. And I need to remember to count my blessings.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower!
Love the Dr. Suess lessons!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Dr. Seuss fantastic? He really hits the "nail on the head!" From CA, thanks for sharing your "life"
ReplyDeleteGreat choice for your word. My life is getting back on track right now. I think everyone is getting healthier and we are all so blessed. Love the Dr. Seuss lessons too. I had never read them before.
ReplyDeleteI can hardly post for the blurry eyes from tearing up over your post. Such is life! What I would give you would be a "Hugs" quilt square to go with your "Life" square because when life comes down on you what you need is someone who understands and someone to reach out and touch you.
ReplyDeleteLife, of course, has it's ups and downs. I'm in the middle of a down, but focusing on my blessings keeps me up!
ReplyDeleteLIFE - What a wonderful word. And the comments on Life are so insightful and real. And life does slip away without realizing - I was cleaning a shelf this morning and found a UFO from 2003 !!! I found another quilt started by a friend who passed on. Her husband gave me the unfinished blocks a long time ago. I have been living my life in memories all morning.
ReplyDeleteI am just becoming a follower.
I'm happier than I've ever been ! Two years ago I finally got to do what I've always wanted....be a stay at home ranch wife and quilt to my hearts desire.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower.
ReplyDeleteI because unemployed for the first time since I had my youngest daughter 24 years ago. I am enjoying my time job hunting, but it has absolutely fed my need to create. I have time to quilt, and time to enjoy my grandson's (they live with me). To quote the late Erma Bombeck from "If I Had My Lie to Live Over" . . . but mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute . . .
ReplyDeletelook at it and really see it . . . and never give it back.”
A fabulous word! Life has definitely gotten away from me since I started working two jobs. But I cling tightly to my quilting time since it is the sanity in my LIFE! I LOVE the Dr. Seuss advice! I sure enjoyed visiting your blog this morning :)
ReplyDeleteLife has gotten me busy and I am behind on my personal sewing but my family has tripled last year so, Xmas did too and my mom was with me for 3 wks this year so life got the best of me this year which is a good thing.
ReplyDeleteLove your life project :) Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeletemy life finaly seems to be falling more into place and I now am doing only the things that bring positive energy into my day (like reading blogs and being inspired by other great crafters). I have a stable job for the first time in 3 years, a home and husband that fit me well and have let go of negativity that I was carring around for a while. I have descided 2013 is the year to realy live life and not let time mearly pass. Great blog -- new follower
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder & tips! Thank you. Your project turned out cute. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteMy life is full of ups and downs, like everyone. Love Dr. Seuss' comments....very true!
ReplyDeleteLike everyone my life has ups and downs but that's part of it! I always make the most of my ups!!
ReplyDeleteLife tries to get away, but lately I've gone a little OCD about cleaning. I think it is all the medication I'm on, LOL. Doctors appointments every other day, then cleaning, I need to fit in crafting time whenever I can. UGH. Things will settle soon enough and I can be creative in a clean house :)
ReplyDeleteI am a follower.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAs far as life getting away from us..it's hard not to when you want to quilt so many things, and do other crafty things, yet you work and clean house,do laundry, cook meals, buy groceries... Never enough time in the day. 23 min timer helps...but still never enough time.

Life gets in the way to much!!!! Some days I wish I could just curl up on the couch with a box of chocolates and read all day but then I have WAY to much stuff that needs to get done:) haha!!!! Story of my life:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing - perfect timing since life is definitely interfering with my original plans today! Love the font and looking forward to seeing how this finishes up.
ReplyDeleteI'm a happy follower!
ReplyDeleteLife seems to be speeding up the older I get - and I have way too much to do! Thanks for sharing and the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower, thanks.
ReplyDeleteYour project is wonderful! Great Word. Scrapbook ChickADoodle is right. Never enough time in the day. I`m retired. I try to get the housework done, sometimes I don`t, but I don`t want to go to my grave with "cathy kept a clean house" on my tombstone. I am at an increased risk for breast cancer. I may never get cancer, but the risk is there. I decided to make my life really great every day, really live. I sew more for my family, some decor things, I enjoy the Hops and my bloggy friends, meeting more people in my neighborhood and stretching myself. I`m "living" my Life. I set aside quilting time, a half hour twice a day. I usually make one of those time periods. The shedding dogs can wait awhile. My husband finally gets it. It`s hard to put yourself first once. All the commentors made good points. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteOnce I retired I thought the days would drag but they only have zipped by.
ReplyDeleteMy life just took a wonderful turn. I get to be a grandma for the 2nd time. Dear daughter was not expecting(HA) to be a mom before she got married, but sometime plans change. And since he didn't want to be a dad, he left. Such is life. We will survive this. Like your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your fabric choices. My life hasn't just gotten away from me, it has skipped the tracks and I am hanging on for dear...well...life! Along with a lot of other upheaval, I just found out my 12 yr. old daughter, who is a dancer and wants to be in a professional dance company, has scoliosis. We are taking it one day at a time and trying not to let "life" get us down. I think the best thing to do when life throws you curve balls is to take a deep breath and soldier on. Appreciate the little things and try to be the best person you can.
ReplyDeleteOh, I forgot to mention I am a follower. Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing and allowing us to share with you.
ReplyDeleteMy life is all about fabrics and quilting. I live a good and "slow" life with my husband and our cats. Doing what we want, taking it easy. Don´t have much money, but that´s allright as long as I have fabrics and thread.

Oh, my, what an inspiration! Life is so important! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI just starting following you. Love your blog.
ReplyDeleteAre you going to add this word to a quilt for your soon to come baby?
ReplyDeleteMy life is about creating and trying new things during my creative journey. I love Dr. Seuss too.
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying my "ups" today because it's the first day at a new university for my daughter! :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely words thanks for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your post and your LIFE quilt! I am retired, and thinking lately that my life is speeding rapidly and I had best use every second to its fullest!
ReplyDeleteI am a happy regular follower of your blog!
ReplyDeleteLife is how you live it and Dr. Seuss is always a plus. I love that you put s positive spin on some of the pitfalls.Oh the places you'll go!
ReplyDeleteLife is the perfect word. I look at it as a journey that is full of both bumps and triumphs. It doesn't matter how fast it passes as long as I am enjoying it fully.
ReplyDeleteI am a happy follower!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super word! Love the font you used. I think you are in good company, hehe. Life is what happens when you are making other plans, right? 2012 flew by so fast for me, where does the time go? Sometimes all you can do is put out the "fires" that pop up in Life but don't forget to take time to breathe. I also think humor is a good stress buster. My son who was deployed with the Marine Corps came home from Afghanistan last November. I made five trips to the San Diego area in ten weeks. Believe me some balls got dropped, hehe. Life has gotten so busy and I think alot of people understand.
ReplyDeleteThank you for a great giveaway and a chance to win.

I need an extra 24 hours in every day to do the things I need to do as well as the things I want to do! Balance is the key, but it is so hard to stay balanced when I would much prefer to stay in my quilting studio and quilt! Oh well, I look at it as what will matter in 5 years, then the little things just get off the list! Thanks for the opportunity to win such an awesome prize!
ReplyDeleteI'm an old follower of FHQ!

absolutely beautiful project. I love it. Life has gotten away with me this week, as I came down with a cold the same day we were starting up school again with the kids. Not such a fun combination. Eek
ReplyDeleteLife...great word. One needs God in thier life and then the rest is easy.

ReplyDeleteLife has gotten away on me in a big way for the past year or more. I've had work burnout, ptsd or whatever and severe depression. But just last night I decided to get my life back in control and I am currently determined to do that. Lovely hanging you made!
ReplyDeleteLife is what you make it. I work at enjoying each day. Being 73, I have been through lots of highs and lows. Just try and make each day great. Thanks for being part of the hop.
ReplyDeleteYes I am a follower.
ReplyDeleteWhile dealing with my husband's undiagnoised, chronic illness the past several years I have come to realize just how precious life is. I've found it can go by much to fast while at the same time seemingly going very slow. I try hard to find joy in every day and to remember to count my blessings, one of which is the quilter who blog and brighten some dark days with their posts and pictures. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI am a follower.
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower, too! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI travel for work 4 days a week, and yes, I feel like Life gets away from me... a LOT. :)
ReplyDeleteLife is good. My husband and I retired a couple of years ago, and we have had a great time traveling and spending time with each other and family. Life is good.
ReplyDeleteI think my life is wonderful with my caring husband and naughty son :D
ReplyDeleteLife has been pretty hard for me this past 20 months. I am in the "reorganization" mode and trying to learn my "new normal" after the unexpected loss of my husband. By the love, mercy, and grace of God, I'm learning to smile again. Your blog made me smile. Thank you so much. Love your fabric choices and theme "family".
ReplyDeleteI am a follower.
ReplyDeleteLife is always getting in my way, but without it what would I do. Life is a great word.
ReplyDeleteOh, Yes, I am a follower of yours and LIFE.
ReplyDeleteDr. Suess was very wise...about life... And any number of other things. Love your word! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying my life with family friends and hobbies. Thanks for sharing your project
ReplyDeleteLife is really busy right now. I am in my junior year for a bachelors degree in business administration at The Pennsylvania State University:Dubois.
ReplyDeleteMy life is grand right now. I have a daughter and grandson visiting. It can't get any better than that!
ReplyDeleteWell, at 68 it does seem that life has gotten away from me. Truly, where DID all those years go? I'm still hanging on AND I have many, many projects to do and keep me busy for at least 30 years!!
ReplyDeleteI do feel a little like life has gotten away from me... I've been sick with the cruddy flu and bad cold since early December and now have pneumonia. But am on the mend, and can't wait to get back to life again!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I think my DH and I are close to being even, something happens that throws us backward. Suddenly I'm in my 70's and wonder where all the years have gone. On a more upbeat note, I love your project - especially the script font and fabrics that you used. swalker287 (at) gmail (dot) com.
ReplyDeleteLife is what you make it-and your made it into a cute little quilt! Love that DR Seuss.
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I thought about it and you know, I feel very lucky Life is good. I hope it says that way. Thanks for making me think, love your work.
ReplyDeletelife is great I am retired
ReplyDeleteI follow you now
ReplyDeleteLife is busy for me and does seem to be getting away from me. Great word to get us all thinking! :O)
ReplyDeleteLife is good! Lovely word choice.
ReplyDeleteMy life is very blessed. I have so very much to be thankful for, and try to remind myself as such every time I start to feel sorry for myself! I love the original work you do.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite sayings for the past couple of decades which has been capitalized upon too is: "Life Is Good". One other fav. is "I Love America". Despite how crazy our schedules get, it's typically our own agenda to blame that we keep piling on more and more an already stressed time limit, thinking we are super women. This is a phrase and a growing time for you. Enjoy the process and don't be afraid to set limits, you're entitled. I know personally, been there and still going through too much to blah, blah blah about here. But I am smiling and progressing, such is life!
ReplyDeleteI Loved your word, the font and colors you used within your project. Thank you for sharing and please, don't forget to Breathe! When you can, please find some time for a pause or two.
Kind regards, Jane
I like your word choice. Life is what you make it and mine is never boring. Great lessons from Dr. Seuss!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway.
Life is good. Love the Dr Suess lesson. How true. It is not always easy to speak our mind and be who we are. Love that Dr Suess wisdom.
ReplyDeleteThis year I am trying to be more kind to myself and put me a little more to the forefront.
The next book I read will be Life is What you Make it by Peter Buffet, Warren Buffet's son. Lots of good advice in this book. Your blog has reminded me of that book.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Life has taken me down many different paths and taught me many different lessons. Gotta love Dr Suess! Thank for the giveaway. vickise at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt - I believe that you only have the one life so you have to grasp it with both hands and live it to full! Enjoy everyday.
ReplyDeleteMy life has gotten away from me in more ways than I can imagine. I feel like I've awakened from a long sleep, like rip van winkle, wondering where all the time went, and finally ready to get in the game. But no matter; this is going to be the best year ever!
ReplyDeleteLove your word! We are so blessed to wake up every morning and live life to it's fullest. Thanks for sharing with us.
ReplyDeleteEstoy contenta. La vida me trata bien, un marido estupendo, 2 hijos fantásticos, salud para todos y mi nuevo trabajo con el que disfruto como si fuera mi hoby. Además vamos a intentar que este sea un gran año. ¿qué más se puede pedir?
ReplyDeleteLife always gets away from me, I am a senior and I thought LIFE would slow down but if anything it is busier and wonderful.I loved your word ,project and all of your thoughts around that word. Thankyou for sharing
ReplyDeleteMy life has indeed gotten away from me as health issues are preventing me from doing many daily activities and things have piled up. Would never have dreamed that I would miss doing housework! We are optimistic that after all tests are finished and meet again with the neurosurgeon that the problem will be identified and remedy can begin. That's why I'm enjoying reading all these inspirational and uplifting words!

such a great word and it looks fab in fabric! Life got away from me years ago and I've been running, desperately trying to catch up, ever since!
ReplyDeleteI love your project! The letters are so pretty. The fabric of my life is like the fabric in my stash. Some light, some dark, some pretty, some ugly, some whole and some in pieces....but hey, it all gets sorted out in the end and makes a pretty great patchwork!
ReplyDeleteLife is a great choice for the In Your Word Hop. Your quilt is really nice. My life needs more organization and that is my goal for this year. Organize, organize, organize.
ReplyDeletenicolesender(at)yahoo(dot)com
I really like what you had to say about life. I tend to get anxious about things and am learning to just go with the flow because life is the way it is.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Wonderful word, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteLove that word! Have given life to 5 children, and am busy being a mother to them, a wife to my husband, do some sewing in some spare time, and get ready for the spring when we sell bedding plants. Busy, some times, but life is living one day at a time, and taking what life offers that day! Thanks for sharing your word.
