Owl love you!!

Owl Love You.

So I got this cute little flannel owl panel a little while ago when
I went on a Quilt shop trip with Mom and Sister C...

I was pretty simple to pin
(I hate having my projects overloaded with pins when I'm quilting)

I went around each owl and squiggled the background..

Hubby is really good about holding my finished projects for me.
I tried to 'boy it up' by adding a blue dotty border..

The back of the quilt is always my favorite.
Then you get to see the quilting.
It looks as tho I backed the owl quilt in white but I used really light blue..

Mary's Quilt

mayo foundation house

I got a phone call a couple months ago from a friend of mine. We worked together at the Mayo Foundation House in Rochester,Mn.  I was surprised when she called me to do a quilt for her.

I took her quilt over to mom&dad's and laid it out on their basement floor. Mary said she used all scraps for this project that it took her 2 yrs to finish. Not because the pattern takes two years but more so she's a busy gal. She only could put bits&pieces of time into it. it's PERFECT. All the points are perfect.. She does such good work.

So, I placed her quilt on 'betty' and away we went. It took me a shorter amount of time to quilt it than I thought. And wonderfully, nothing happened with my machine.. it ran very smoothly.

When I quilted it I went around the middle squares, then around the 2nd block and then around the outer block. I think it turned out rather nicely. I didn't want to take away from her design.

Happy Sewing!!!

Maybe I'm Crazy...

Dear Jame book by Brenda Manga Papadakis
I am so excited..
It came!!!! I was flipping through an older quilt magazine last week looking for quilt projects to do in the next couple month and I ran across an article about 'Dear Jane' I was instantly Inspired. I mean the kind of instant I-want-the-book-now-to-sew inspired. So, I looked for it online.. Oh, how I <3 love amazon.. :)  I didn't think however that I would get it this soon.. So, since my husband rescued it from the mail box and gave me the 'what did you buy now??'

I've been pouring over it. Finding my favorite blocks & trying not to get to intimidated over the 4 1/2" draft your own blocks. (I really should look and see if the is a CD that goes with the book)  I can do it!! I CAN DO IT!!! I'm thinking I'll start with 12 of my favorite blocks.. I love the colored blocks and the black. (its what drew me to the quilt in the first place)  I can do it.. even if its just one block at a time.. :)

... just one block... so maybe I'm crazy..
